Laba Festival, commonly known as "Laba", has a tradition of worshipping ancestors and gods, and praying for a bountiful harvest and good luck in ancient times. Today, the custom of eating Laba Congee and soaking Laba garlic (Laba rice in some places) is still popular among the people.

Steps to make Laba Congee [Original Flavor Diary]
- Wash red beans, black beans, and lotus seeds and soak them for 3 hours.
- Wash millet, Job's tears, glutinous rice, and purple rice thoroughly.
- 3. Put all the materials except rock sugar and red dates into the electric cooker, add proper amount of water, and press the key of Congee or soup.
- 4. During the cooking of Congee, cut the red dates and remove the stones.
- After 5.1.5 hours, wait for the ingredients to cook until soft and sticky, add red dates and cook for another half hour.
- 6. In the last 10 minutes, add rock sugar and cook until melted.
