Steps to make New Orleans Chicken Zongzi
- 1. Ingredients: 2 chicken legs, 15g New Orleans seasoning, 15g water, 500g glutinous rice, 5g salt, 25 zongzi leaves.
- 2. Remove the bones from the chicken legs.
- 3. Cut into small cubes, add New Orleans seasoning and water.
- 4. Mix well, cover with plastic wrap, and marinate in the refrigerator for several hours.
- Soak glutinous rice in clean water for several hours until it absorbs water and swells.
- 6. Pour into the sieve and control the moisture.
- 7. Add salt and mix well for later use.
- 8. Take a zongzi leaf and roll it in a circle and a half, forming a slender cone shape.
- 9. Put in glutinous rice, about one-third full, press and fill tightly.
- 10. Add one or two pieces of marinated chicken.
- 11. Fill the cone with glutinous rice again.
- 12. Fold the top leaves down to cover the filling.
- 13. Fold it to one side to form a triangular cone shape.
- 14. Tie a thin rope from top to waist.
- 15. Pack everything up.
- 16. Cut off the growing petioles.
- 17. Put it in the pot, add water to cover the Zongzi, boil it on high fire and then turn to medium low fire for about 2 hours.
- 18. Zongzi becomes soft and ripe. Turn off the fire.
- 19. Control the water in the pot.
- Remove the zongzi leaves and pair with tomato sauce for consumption.
