Steps to make Babao Zongzi

  • 1. Call it the Eight Treasures Material.
  • 2. Weigh red dates.
  • 3. All ingredients, including Baobao ingredients, should be soaked in water one day in advance, while glutinous rice should only be soaked for about four hours.
  • 4. Heat the raisins in boiling water and clean them thoroughly.
  • 5. Drain the water and set aside for later use.
  • 6. Clean the red dates thoroughly.
  • 7. Drain the water, cut it into strips, and then cut it into small particles. Put them together with raisins and set aside for later use.
  • 8. Soak the dried zongzi leaves in water the night before, add a spoonful of salt, and press them down with a heavy object.
  • The next morning, boil the zongzi leaves in the water for five minutes and add a spoonful of salt.
  • 10. After five minutes, immediately take it out and rinse it with cold water, then clean it piece by piece with a loofah cloth.
  • 11. Drain the water and cut off both ends.
  • 12. Glutinous rice soaked for four hours and eight treasure ingredients soaked all night.

  • Roll over the excess leaves, tie them up with ropes, and complete the triangular zongzi.

  • 25. Flip up the leaves on both sides to cover the glutinous rice.

  • 27. Tie it up, tiger head zongzi.
  • 28. Wrap everything up and put it in a pot. Add more than ten centimeters of water and a spoonful of salt. Bring it to a boil over high heat and simmer over medium heat for three hours. Turn off the heat and let it sit for one hour. Flip it over halfway.
  • After getting bored, take it out and let it cool down. There is still a cow horn zongzi hiding in the corner, and I forgot to take a photo of the wrapping process. After cooling, pack the food in bags and freeze it in the refrigerator. When you want to eat it, just take it out and steam it up in the morning.
