Steps to make Osmanthus Glutinous Rice Lotus Root

  • 1. Wash and soak glutinous rice for one hour
  • 2. Select a section of lotus root and wash it clean
  • 3. Cut a section from the lotus root head and keep it as a cover for the lotus root
  • 4. Fill the lotus root hole with glutinous rice, pound it firmly with chopsticks, cover it with the lotus root cover and fix it with a toothpick, and peel the lotus root body
  • 5. Add water to the pot until the lotus roots are cooked for half an hour, then add brown sugar and rock sugar and continue to cook for another half hour
  • 6. A toothpick can easily penetrate the lotus root body and remove it
  • 7. Remove the lotus root cap, slice and place on a plate
  • 8. Sprinkle with osmanthus honey (which I made myself). If not, use honey instead
