Dragon Boat Festival is approaching mid summer, and the time is clear and the days are long again. The Loong Boat Festival is coming soon. There are various customs all over the country, such as racing Loong Boat, hanging wormwood, wearing sachets, tying five colored threads... but my favorite is to eat Zongzi. Zongzi, as a traditional delicacy of the Loong Boat Festival, has long become a must eat delicacy for every family. There is a huge cultural difference between the North and the South. Zongzi is sweet and salty, but sweet Zongzi has more calories and salty Zongzi has more fat. Today's Zongzi with grains and cereals, I used some grains and cereals to replace some glutinous rice, which is more in line with our current health concept of eating more coarse grains. Wrap red dates, red beans, mung beans, peanuts, raisins and glutinous rice with fragrant Ruo leaves. The stuffing is rich and sweet. It not only satisfies the taste, but also ensures nutrition and health.

Steps to make Zongzi
- 1. First of all, we need to prepare all the ingredients needed to make this [cereals Zongzi]: first wash the red beans, peanuts and mung beans, and then soak them in water for one night. Soak glutinous rice for 5 hours after washing, dry clean red dates and grapes and set aside for later use.
- 2. Soak the dried zongzi leaves and amaranth in water overnight in advance. Remember to completely soak the zongzi leaves in water from beginning to end. Then, the next morning, put the zongzi leaves and amaranth in a pot, add an appropriate amount of water, and bring to a boil over high heat. Cook for another 3 to 5 minutes. Retrieve and rinse thoroughly with water, then use scissors to cut off the hard stem at the round end of the zongzi leaves. This way, the zongzi leaves will become very soft and not easily crack when wrapped.
- 3. Pour the soaked glutinous rice, red beans, peanuts, mung beans and raisins into a basin after controlling the water content, and mix well for standby.
- 4. Next, we will start to make Zongzi. Take a zongzi leaf and fold it into a funnel shape from half of it. Use a spoon to add the mixed filling, and then add a red date.
- 5. Then add a spoon to mix the filling and press the filling tightly inside. Fold the leaves on the top down to the two sides, wrap the funnel at the bottom, and make a triangular Zongzi.
- 6. Then take a piece of Malan grass and bind up the Zongzi tightly. Finally, put the wrapped Zongzi into the pot, add water soaked in Zongzi, cover the lid and boil it with high fire, then boil it with low fire for about 2 hours, then take it out. After cooling, dip it in white sugar and eat it. The taste is particularly soft, sticky, and fragrant.
