Steps to make Spring Artemisia Cake

  • 1. Ingredients: glutinous rice flour, brown sugar, fried peanuts, black sesame, wormwood, plantain leaves.
  • 2. Put brown sugar powder, peanuts, and black sesame into the mixer.
  • 3. Crush and mix well, then remove and set aside.
  • 4. Wash mugwort twice.
  • 5. Blanch with boiling water for a moment.
  • 6. Cook until fully cooked. (Removing the green and astringent taste of mugwort leaves for better hygiene)
  • 7. Remove and squeeze out the water.
  • 8. Put it into a blender and stir until crushed.
  • 9. Add glutinous rice flour, and then add proper amount of boiled water to mix evenly. (Stir with chopsticks while adding water until it forms a snowflake shape and can be kneaded into a ball.)
  • 10. Knead into a dough that is moderately soft and hard.
  • 11. Divide into small balls of the same size.
  • 12. Flatten and form a concave shape in the center of the dough, then add the filling.
  • 13. Wrap the edges together, then gently press and flatten them all together.
  • 14. Cut the banana leaves into small pieces and wash them clean.
  • 15. Blanch the water again.
  • 16. Fold them all up and use scissors to trim out circular cake mats.
  • 17. Apply a little cooking oil to banana leaves, add moxa cake, and steam over high heat over water for 15 minutes.
