Steps to make Traditional fried bread - donuts

  • 1. After breaking the eggs, add milk, white sugar, and sift in flour. Dig a small hole in the flour pile, put the yeast in, bury it, and then use chopsticks to stir it into a powder free state. Then pour it into the bread maker and start the dough mixing process. After 15 minutes, add chopped butter and continue the dough fermentation process for one and a half hours. Remove the dough and check for any film formation. (The steps for making bread and noodles can be detailed in the future)
  • 2. After removing the dough, use your hands to empty the air from the dough. Use a rolling pin to pat the dough, then cover it with a cloth and wake up for 15 minutes. If you don't wake up, it won't roll out into pieces. After waking up, the dough will become larger and roll into 1cm thick noodles. You can choose the thickness according to your personal preference, because I like the finished product to be a thick and sturdy donut. If you like a delicate one, you can roll it out a little thinner. But it is not recommended to make it thicker because the middle hole will disappear after fermentation, and it will not look like a donut. Hehe.
  • 3. Use a mold to press out the shape of a donut on top, prepare a piece of oiled paper, and (I used a baked cookie from yesterday and found it to be particularly good, not sticky even after fermentation) place the pressed donut on the oiled paper. It is best to use a shovel, as freshly pressed donuts are very soft and easily deformed. Then put it into the oven to develop the fermentation stage for 40 minutes. The picture shows the fermented appearance.
  • 4. Carefully cut open the oil paper with scissors, as shown in the picture. Do not touch the fermented donut, as it is very prone to deformation. At the beginning of pressing the film, it should not be touched after being pressed. The one in the bottom right corner, the most beautiful, is the last one made, without touching the whole process. The front ones are all exploring, and some have moved slightly, so the shape is not as beautiful. Then heat a pot of oil as much as possible, so that the donut can float completely. Gently grasp both sides of the oil paper and slide the donut into the oil pan. It takes about 10 seconds to flip the surface, and about 10 seconds to remove it. Just coat it with chocolate and decorate it.
